introducing “Sojourn”… our new range of garden rooms

With the increasing demand for extra space at home, whether that’s for a home office, a playroom, somewhere for guests to stay or simply a place to escape for a bit of piece and quiet, we’ve created a new range of garden buildings called “Sojourn in the garden”. These are especially desirable because if the Permitted Development criteria is met, then these buildings won’t need planning permission.

One key criteria is the maximum height of the proposed building. There are essentially two options for “outbuildings”; a flat roof building shouldn’t exceed an overall height of 3 metres with a maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres; and pitch roof buildings should have the same maximum eaves height but can have a total overall height of up to 4 metres.

We’ve opted for the pitched roof option. Having a pitched roof with high-level ceilings makes a huge difference to the spacious feel inside the buildings, something the flat roof versions can never offer.

The other key differentiator between our range and the countless other garden rooms available, is that we only use natural and recycled materials. Our garden rooms are probably the most sustainable garden rooms on the market.

We build to exactly the same very high standards as our permanent homes (fully complying with Building Regulations) that have a minimum 60-year life expectancy and are potentially mortgageable. The foundations are galvanised steel ground screws, installed in a day, with far less carbon than a concrete base. All of the timber is FSC Certified and we use 150mm SupaSoft recycled plastic bottle insulation in all of the building panels. This super eco material is vapour permeable, very snug and fantastic for the environment. The doors and windows are made by Velfac, an incredibly durable timber-aluminium frame. Double glazing is standard but we can offer triple glazing too.

The standard external finish is timber cladding (Douglas Fir) with a black profiled sheet roof. There are three other finishes to choose from – an all black profile sheet option, galvanised steel sheeting or COR-TEN steel. Either or both end elevations can then be finished in any of these finishes.

Another very unique feature of our garden rooms is the ability to customise them with a wide range of additional elements. The most notable of these options are the “feature walls” that are available on either (or both) the front of the building and the gable end elevations.

These could be simply contrast materials or some very unique options, such as a living wall or a giant insect hotel. The smaller front feature panel has very similar designs but also offers some more practical options, such as an outdoor shower (perfect for our optional hot-tub), rainwater harvesting, a garden tool cupboard or a barbecue grill with log store and a smoke chimney directly above.

Further options include solar panels, battery storage, smart lighting, a wood burning stove, underfloor heating, laminate flooring and a range of wallpaper from Miss Print.

We’re taking orders today for these made-to-order buildings, with delivery roughly 8-10 weeks later.  We can assist with the assembly or you can build it yourself.
